Job Description

The Software Engineer in the Air National Guard Program Office (ANGPO) will support the design, development, and deployment of a continuous delivery system for rapid software development supporting Air National Guard (ANG) sponsored research. Additionally, the position will support data analysis at the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center in Tucson, AZ. The Software Engineer will utilize open-source software, agile/DevOps practices, online communication tools, the team developed tools, and cutting edge technologies to support the ANG aircraft systems and test.

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, and deploy software for military applications and test support
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers and sponsors to refine software requirements, formulate technical approaches, participate in various technical groups, and review code
  • Define software application requirements including requirement/feature analysis and project scope analysis
  • Develop and enforce coding standards, processes, and best practices
  • Regularly interact with sponsors throughout the project life cycle
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C/C++, C#, JAVA, and/or Ada
  • Experience with Python or similar scripting/programming languages
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies and tools such as Git, issue trackers, and collaboration

Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of December 2020 and skills relevant to this position will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modern database and datastore technologies (e.g., Relational Data Base Management System (RDBMS), Non
  • Structured Query Language (NoSQL), Key-Value Database(K-V))
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures and cloud-based solutions
  • Experience designing and documenting software architectures
  • Technical diagnostic experience including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with aircraft data instrumentation and structure

US Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
