Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Test Engineering Division (TEN) is seeking an entry level Software Engineer for a full time research faculty position in the Robins Research Branch (RRB) located at the Warner Robins Field Office, Georgia. The selected candidate will work in a highly interactive small research team consisting of hardware, software, and systems engineers working on Department of Defense Electronic Warfare (EW), avionics and weapon systems applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Develop software for military applications including defense avionics systems, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, and military data links
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to specify high-level requirements and conduct cost and level-of-effort analysis for assigned tasks
  • Define and implement software requirements for new and/or existing applications
  • Assist with lab test procedures, test cases, test scripts, and unit tests
  • Regularly interact with customers throughout project life cycle
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of May 2020 and skills relevant to this position will be considered.
  • Experience with Windows programming
  • Experience with software development in C#, Java, and Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
  • Familiarity with Ada programming language
  • Experience in testing software
  • Familiarity with software source control configuration management (GIT, MKS, TFS, Subversion)
  • Active DoD Secret clearance

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
