Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) System Engineering Division (SEN) is currently seeking a Software Engineer for a full-time research position. This position supports design, development, implementation, and testing of a variety of software applications in support of RF Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This may include applications dealing with system test, system data processing, signal processing, system communications, system security, mission data, embedded software system improvements. This position will work closely system subject matter experts and software system engineers to support presently fielded systems and produce improved functionality for system users.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Design and develop software tools that support Electronic Warfare systems
  • Design of algorithms for analysis of RF EW systems
  • Integrate multiple software applications internal and external to embedded systems
  • Develop and improve PC software supporting embedded software systems
  • Serve as technical expert on assigned projects and systems to include latest industry standards, system interfaces, engineering tools, and road maps for current and future updates
  • Develop and present technical presentations for internal peer reviews, sponsor design reviews, and technical conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December 2019.
  • Minimum 1 year of applicable experience in a technical field
  • Experience with C, C++ and/or C# programming languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing PC applications (C# for .NET, Python, C/C++)
  • Experience with embedded software systems
  • Experience with testing and debugging software
  • Experience with Electronic Warfare systems
  • Experience with configuration management and source control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Experience with Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
