You will be joining a vibrant technology team responsible for enabling Intel's IoT customers including those in the industrial, retail, healthcare, and automotive markets.

As a Software Enabling and Optimization Engineer in the Real Time domain, you will be responsible for enabling and supporting Intel CPUs and associated components for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) and Time Coordinated Computing (TCC). TSN and TCC are critical capabilities for providing access from on-premise Edge computing to sensors and actuators via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and 5G.

In this role you will be providing software technical support to Marketing teams, supporting external customers with power-on and debug, working on Proof of Concepts and creating customer collaterals. You will be providing Intel customers with device drivers and software stack components on Linux and Windows distributions. Technically, this will require the willingness to debug issues in TSN and TCC areas, integrate and/or port drivers and applications, and work within the open-source community.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Directly engaging customers / internal stakeholders to provide pre and post sales technical support to ensure customer Time to Market (TTM) production ramp.
  • Developing collateral and supporting design wins associated with Intel TSN/TCC solutions, along with actively participating in generating requirements for future Intel CPUs.
  • Support and influence customers / internal stakeholders during all phases of the development cycle, including feature definition, project setup, project execution, and tech support for go-to-market.
  • Replicating and debugging customer reported issues by identifying software issues and proposing changes to customer configuration or Intel/OEM drivers.
  • Providing technical training, consultation, and hands-on assistance to customers in areas of realtime (TSN/TCC)
  • Collaborating with software architects to develop and finalize the platform software requirements
  • Active participant in virtual technical teams to solve complex problems.
  • Developing and delivering training material for technical field training events.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork, classes, research and or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science with 4 plus years of relevant experience or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science with 3 plus years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, background in embedded SW development, and Realtime software.
  • 3+ years of experience in BIOS, Bootloader, or low-level system software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Debugging experience using GDB and Lauterbach
  • Experience in a scripting language, e.g., Perl, Python, etc.
  • Experience with software in at least one of the following areas: Linux kernel, Linux driver porting, security, low-level system software, I/O, open source bootloaders, etc.
  • Experience with Intel Architecture with one or more of the following: microprocessor architecture, chipset architectures, system architecture, platform hardware design, platform software design, firmware design, etc.
