Job Description

The Software Developer in the Sensor Intelligence and Visualization Division (SIV) will perform software development in support of a broad range of sensing and sensor fusion applications. The SIV Divisionperforms algorithm development, modeling, simulation, analysis, as well as the communication of these results through traditional and non-traditional media such as augmented reality. The division primarily works in the support of Department of Defense with specialties in electronic warfare, novel soldier interfaces, EO/IR scene generation, armor active protection, smart cities and smart installations, light propagation and turbulence, and EO/IR and RF signature modeling.


  • Develop software applications supporting sensing and sensor fusion systems including Software Algorithm Development, front end development, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning,
  • Perform software algorithm development, front end development, and Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning software support
  • Produce and update software design
  • Develop unit tests for developed software and support broader test support needs as necessary
  • Support UI design (Human-Computer Interaction/HCI)
  • Design software related to computer vision, data analysis, and data visualization (Information / Scientific Visualization)
  • Develop and present technical presentations for internal peer reviews and sponsor design reviews
  • Interface and coordinate with other team members including other developers, testers, system engineers, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with multiple programming languages (C++, C#, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with common architectural and design patterns
  • Experience with software design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Experience working with hardware systems and/or signal processing problems
  • Experience with simulation for engineering purposes

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
