Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) seeks highly motivated student researchers for the spring 2020 semester. Student will work with full-time developers to assist with software development and testing activities for small to large systems. These systems support people processes in the area of healthcare, public health, family care, financial advice, etc. The systems may include both web-based systems and mobile systems (native iOS and Android).

The student will:

  • Transform requirements into technical specifications
  • Document test cases and implementation details
  • Develop and deploy code and unit tests
  • Design, develop and deploy UI with JavaScript
  • Troubleshoot existing code
  • Work with and collaborate with designers, developers, and task leads

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computational Media, IT, Engineering, or related field
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters  
  • Must have a 2.5 or higher GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages: Javascript, Java, Python, C++
  • Familiarity with Angular or jQuery and CSS a plus
  • Coursework team leadership experience
  • Interest in human/people-focused problem sets
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
  • Proactive communication
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
