The Global Business Intelligence (GBI) team within Apple's IS&T organization has a very large Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to support analytical and reporting needs of hundreds of global Apple users. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a smart, experienced and results-oriented database specialist to work on our EDW platform to provide a scalable, high-performance and active data-warehousing platform. You are highly motivated, innovative, have a good work ethic and have a proven track record of crafting and leading large, sophisticated data warehouses.

The position will involve close interaction with development, product, database administrators and support teams. This person will review database designs to ensure that they are optimized for performance, scalability and be an inspiring leader and champion in automation. This role will provide second-level support to address any platform wide performance and stability issues.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in relational cloud based database technologies like Snowflake
• Ability to identify system level bottlenecks in the database and recommend solutions
• Strong Object oriented programming experience in Python/Java or Scala
• Analyze production workloads and develop strategies to run Snowflake database with scale and efficiency
• Experience in Snowflake performance tuning, capacity planning, handling cloud spend and utilization is a plus
• Lead all aspects of database security both at infrastructure and application level
• Ability to articulate and implement Snowflake standard methodologies and find inventive way of implementing them
• Lead Cross regional data replication and be an expert at database recovery features
• Ability to define and automate DBA functions
• Strong expertise in AWS specifically in compute, storage and security services

Participation in Physical Model reviews with the development teams to provide inputs on improving performance
Continuous analysis of the database environment to capitalize on system-wide tuning opportunities

Education & Experience

MS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
