The Siri Data organization is looking for a seasoned Analytics leader. You will significantly scale your team and partner across engineering groups building Siri Search. You will build the culture and process for using data to measure, understand and improve our products and features. You will deeply understand how Siri Search works, partner end-to-end to uncover insights, find opportunities, and help drive direction across Apple hardware, software and services, today and in the years to come

You have a background that fuses data science, engineering, and product thinking, and have years of experience leading a team that loves to dive into data and build measurement, evaluation, and insights to improve products

- Grow and scale a team of data scientists focused on measurement and evaluation of the Siri Search Products to inform development. Includes a spectrum of roles - metric design, metric development, dashboard creation, data visualization, insights and opportunity identification, predictive analytics, causal inference
- Define and drive implementation of rigorous human grader based metrics and live traffic usage metrics for product and features.
- Define evaluation methodology and drive evaluation review processes, and ensure the use of sound methodology, setup and analysis. Understand A/B test results deeply, ensure consistent reporting of results
- Define what our evaluation tools should do and guide their development (for human and online evaluation)

- Work with teams across Apple to guide future development
- Influence the roadmaps of partners and collaborators developing the Siri Search products and Data analytics infrastructure. Ensure the analytics environment is conducive to productive work by your team, and partner with various teams to make it so
- Build team capabilities (through hiring, training, tools, and process) that enable the reproducible, transparent, trusted work that influences decisions

You know how to recruit, hire and grow people who are not only great technically but also demonstrate success in the highly collaborative, functional environment of innovation at Apple

You know how to lead a distributed team while keeping them connected, collaborating, inspired; whereby they understand how their work ladders into the bigger picture, mission, and vision

Your team is proactive and drives a vision, and works in service of something larger without creating a service org. Your team can deliver what is needed but also redefine what is possible

As a leader, you give clear feedback to your team that balances opportunities for growth with vision to inspire. You model detailed thinking and crisp communication. You are humble and lead by example. You have compassion for your colleagues and the challenges they face but can drive a controversial direction when needed

You care about craft. You can identify when love of craft is getting in the way of impact. You assess difficult trade-offs, triage, and know that sometimes moving slowly now is critical to unlocking fast progress later. You move up and down the ladder of abstraction and help your team do so as well. You can talk and design on technical matters but are always able to connect that work to the impact it is in service of

Education & Experience

PhD or MS degree in a quantitative discipline: computer science, statistics, operations research, informatics, engineering, applied mathematics, economics, etc
