Job Description

As a Wafer Test Engineer, you will develop first-of-a-kind wafer level testing methods of components used in Intel's Silicon Photonic modules by owning and contributing to the test and sort process from initial product concept through product qualification. You will own the development of technology roadmaps to meet the test needs of emerging technical program and manage test equipment development activities to qualify new optical wafer designs and provide test feedback to Research and Development teams to meet those roadmaps. You will write code for software platforms to execute the tests and new setups and algorithms to extract parameters from the collected data to enable classification of novel devices and designs in development. Strong cross-functional communications with design and manufacturing teams is expected in a fast-paced and challenging professional environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a PhD or MS with 4+ years experience or Bachelors with +6 years of experience with a degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Material Science or Electrical Engineering and the following skills/experience:
  • 3+ years knowledgeable in semiconductor devices such as lasers, electro-optic modulators, semiconductor optical amplifiers, and PIN/APD receivers
  • 3+ years experience with semiconductor test equipment, such as parameter analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and switch matrices
  • 2+ years experience programming and debugging data processing algorithms in object oriented languages (C#, Python, ect.)

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background in optical communication components and/or systems
  • Knowledge of FMCW LiDAR theory and operating principles.
  • Experienced with laser diode characterization and equipment for L-I-V characterization, beam profiling, spectral characterization (RIN/SMSR).
  • Experience in characterizing RF components.
  • 3+ years Applied research or Product/Process Development experience ot
  • 3+ years of experience with statistical data analysis and process control for test and process characterization and yield analysis
  • Relevant hands-on experience in wafer level testing of photonic devices such as VCSELs and solid state lighting, optical transceivers, or LiDAR systems with proven ability to integrate hardware and software into high volume test solutions.
  • Strong computer skills
