DPEA, the Data Products Architecture and Engineering organization, is seeking a senior server platform debug lead to join the Xeon Accelerated Performance/ Scalable Performance (AP/SP) Platform Integration and Validation team. Debug Engineers are responsible for triage, debug and identification of the root cause of hardware and software failures on Intel's newest platforms, on systems designed by us and our co-validation partners. A Lead Debug Engineer provides a critical link between the silicon, board, system and ingredient development teams, and the platform integration and validation teams ensuring efficient root cause identification and closure of issues. Projects will be varied, including new reference designs for Intel Xeon SP/AP server platforms, customer designs, and unique one-off customer designs. In addition to system debug, this person will also be instrumental in improving the overall debug skillset of the organization, such as developing reference workflows and training material, and investigating new debug technologies, such as telemetric and automated data analysis.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Lead definition of silicon debug strategies, and draft debug plans along with cross functional teams.

  • Perform the role of Silicon Power-On Lead when required.

  • Provide mentoring to other team members on debug BKMs.

  • Work well with others and be able to communicate requests and gather information from validation, design, BIOS, Firmware, Chipset, processor, and third parties, as needed, to get to issue resolution.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a positive factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed may be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate must have a Master of Science degree in Electrical/Computer/Manufacturing Engineering with 8+ years of industry experience or a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer/Manufacturing Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in two or more of the following:

  • Hands-on technical, individual contributor in Silicon development engineering environment in CPU/logic and/or memory products.

  • Influencing the IP/SoC design decisions and/or pre-/post- validation methods by doing validation gap analysis.

  • Low-level debugging skills that enable the root causing of issues cross hardware, firmware and/or Operating System levels.

  • Experience in development validation experience of popular server/PC technologies for example PCI, PCIE, USB, SASSATA, i2CSMBUS, IPMI, BIOSEFI, DIMM, Storage, Networking, Virtualization, Manageability, Security and/or RAS (reliability, accessibility, serviceability).

Preferred qualifications:

  • PC architecture and the ability to integrate various system components (Hardware, BIOS, OS, Drivers, etc.) and validate/debug to the requirements for server platforms. A good understanding of how the various pieces (Server management, Error handling, OS event logs, etc.) interact and what information they contain is a must.

  • Chipset/processor interfaces (PCI Express, UPI, Memory, USB, SAS, etc.) and be able to interpret specifications to assist with debug and test development.

  • Previous role in debugging issues and setting priorities- understand debug flow and be able to manage multiple issues at once.

  • Hardware/ Debug tools: XDP/ITP, Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, PCI/PCI-e BUS Analyzer.

  • Experience reading schematics and layout data, familiarity with Server OSs and ability to think creatively to come up with ad-hock scripts and tests needed in the course of doing debug.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$145,650.00-$233,190.00
