Come and join us! Barefoot Switching Division, BXD, is part of Intel's Connectivity Group. We are seeking highly qualified candidates as a Serdes Validation Lead!

Come join a creative team of engineers dedicated to designing the hardware technologies that network the leading cloud-service datacenters. We are looking for a motivated and astute individual to join our team as Technical Lead in the Electrical Validation and Characterization team within the Ethernet Switch product organization.  You will be joining a diverse team responsible for creating, defining, and developing system and electrical validation environments and tests for the world's leading programmable Ethernet switches. This team will be responsible for all aspects of high-speed SerDes validation, conformance testing, and tuning for the product team.

In this role, you will use your knowledge of standards, mathematics, test development methodologies, and hands-on skills to bring to market high-speed SerDes including future technologies.  Our products will often be the SerDes lead vehicle. This is a great opportunity to join a world class team and will involve working collaboratively with the SerDes development organization on the most advanced technologies.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Working with Intel's High-Speed SerDes development organization or external IP vendors to characterize test-chips and improve product Key Performance Indicators.

- Debugging and developing firmware, and DSP algorithms to improve SerDes performance

- Developing conformance test plans per customer needs and Standards for high speed SerDes

- Equipment and vendor evaluation/selection for lab testing.

The Data Platforms Group drives new products technologies from high-end co-processors for supercomputers to low-energy systems for enterprise and the cloud, as well as solutions for big data and intelligent devices. Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education Requirement:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 9 years of industry work experience, or

-  Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 6 years of industry work experience, or

- PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 4 years of related work experience.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

- 6 plus years of experience in High Speed Serdes validation.

- 4 plus years of experience with PCIe and Ethernet protocols.

- 4 plus years of debug skills and experience driving resolution of critical issues.

- 4 plus years of hands-on experience with lab equipment including sampling scopes, BERT.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree or higher.

- 10 plus years of experience covering the following areas:

- Knowledge of Networking Industry Reliability expectations and requirements.

- In-depth knowledge of hardware components of Ethernet.

- Understanding of high-speed characterization principles.

- Familiar with TX, RX, PLL measurement requirements and methodologies.

- Characterization of gigabit transceiver for 1-28Gbs NRZ and 56-224Gbs PAM4 coding.

- Measure and characterize SerDes PHYs (PLL, CDR, Jitter Analysis and Jitter Tolerance).

- Familiarity with the design and implementation of high speed SerDes.

- Familiarity with SerDes architecture sub-components such as CDR, PLL, etc.

- In-depth knowledge of bench test equipment: high bandwidth sampling / real-time scopes, spectrum analyzers, BERT and TDR from major equipment vendors.

- Test automation scripting for system boards and lab equipment.

- Python and/or R Scripting Experience.
