One of Apple's R&D groups is currently seeking a Sr. Engineering Lead for Module/Subsystem/Systems Testing & Characterization for Sensors. This engineer will develop bench top test systems and prototypes to enable rapid evaluation and testing of complex sensor systems. This individual will drive the design, architecture, implementation and bring up of the above systems.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to take an abstract problem and break it down in to an implementable system - starting with a scrappy approach - using off the shelf components - and progressively building it up into a sophisticated setup.
  • Ability to define Test Plans, Coverage Metrics and FoMs for sensor characterization.
  • Ability to define hardware and software partitioning of the Test System, including error injection (in-band and out-of-band), fault testing and negative tests.
  • Ability to write specs for the various subsystems and work with internal and external teams to realize the design and implementation.
  • Track record of having tested and shipped products in volume using test infrastructure.
  • Proficient in Python, High Level Language (e.g. C/C++), MatLab.
  • Knowledge of Containers and Deployment Tools.
  • Self starter with excellent communication skills.
  • Candidate must have attention to detail.

Description

In this role you will partner with other subject matter experts and work with a cross functional team of sensor HW, EE integration, system software and algorithm designers to build meaningful and representative test systems and prototypes. As a senior engineer you are expected to lead tasks independently, management multiple projects and mentor junior staff.
Design prototype sensor instrumentation systems for a host of platforms
Develop extensive and scaleable testing and verification benches
Follow (or create new) best practices for hw and software system development
Maintain a strong relationship with internal customers, hardware/software teams, and external vendors
Develop test/validation plans and lead execution of these activities

Education & Experience

Significant experience in defining, architecting, and designing test and automation systems for sensors.

BS in Electrical Engineering with (preferably) 8+ years of experience
MS in Electrical Engineering with (preferably) with 5+ years of experience

Additional Requirements

  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with instrumentation in Labview or similar
  • Experience with transitioning a lab test system into a production line solution
  • Experience with source control (Git) on multi developer projects
