Apple designs consumer electronics that have touched millions and changed the way people interact with electronic devices around the world. The Sensor Instrumentation Group plays a key role in defining and assuring feature performance, and through this team you'll have the unique opportunity to impact products all across Apple.

We are looking for an engineer who will be directly responsible for the development and deployment of instrumentation systems for sensors and transducers on Apple's products. This engineer will work closely with the validation and design groups throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products.

Key Qualifications

  • Professional experience designing, debugging and working with sensors or electromechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of sensors (optical, force, pressure, acoustic, or motion sensors)
  • Familiarity programming in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C
  • Additional Skills
  • The following skills are not necessary for consideration, but will be considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of EE fundamentals, circuit analysis, & circuit debug
  • Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry
  • Experience plotting and processing data in JMP/MATLAB/Python/etc
  • Ability to apply innovative simple solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Description

Specification, development, and verification of calibration and test systems for use for validation during NPI and test during mass production.
Specific responsibilities will be tuned to match the candidate's technical background, but responsibilities may include:
Specifying and designing an application-specific instrumentation system
Working with our mechanical team to specify and validate the required mechanical fixturing & automation systems
Driving system bring-up and qualification at vendors and contract manufacturers during NPI builds (usually in Asia)
Analyzing system data to drive the next level of performance in both the instrumentation and the product
Performing failure mode root cause analysis and resolution, including debug tracking from system to component level

Education & Experience

BS, MS in Engineering or related discipline.
2+ years of professional experience (4+ preferred)
