The Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) National Team Engineering is seeking a Sr Principal Systems Engineer for Huntsville, AL. The Sr Principal Systems Engineer will perform model-based systems engineering (MBSE) functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threats (e.g., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the Missile Defense Agencys (MDA) mission area.

The Sr Principal Systems Engineer will participate in a MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis. The Sr Principal Systems Engineer will contribute to publishing change notices to MDAs system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and DoDAF 2+ compliant based design packages to document, allocate and trace system and Element level requirements. The Sr Principal Systems Engineer will document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by SC&R and National Team stakeholders as well as create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders. The Sr Principal Systems Engineer will work in, and may lead, a multi-discipline team of up to 10-15 engineers in the execution of these tasks.

Active/Current DoD Secret Clearance is required. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:
10+ years model-based system engineering development and architecture experience
Strong technical background in architecture development with system-modeling tool
Knowledge of one or more of MDA systems or capabilities similar to EO/IR sensors, RF sensors, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control
Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment
Individual must possess good communication skills

Active/Current DoD Secret Clearance is required.

Required Education (including Major):
BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics; or related STEM discipline

Desired Skills:
20+ years model-based system engineering development and architecture experience
Modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains
Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems
