Lockheed Martin is seeking a Systems Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to work on beyond next generation technologies in our Applied Research section.

This engineer will be responsible for concept development and business capture, working closely with DoD labs, and the focus on DARPA
The successful candidate will be expected to function in a dynamic, aggressively scheduled business environment that requires efficient and effective decision making based upon customer needs and available funding. The successful candidate must be able to build relationships with multiple parties, at all levels while effectively influencing and demonstrating leadership skills

This role requires ~20% travel, and must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and have experience with new business capture

The successful candidate must have a broad technical background including, but not limited to, RF and EO/IR sensors, materials, advanced energetics, Guidance and Control, Navigation, rapid prototyping, and missile component technologies in general. The candidate must be able to think "out of the box" to come up with new, unique and novel technology ideas/solutions/combinations that can be used to create new programs/markets

The successful candidate must have knowledge of DARPA and a familiarity with active DARPA technical thrusts. It is desired that the candidate have experience working with DARPA directors, program managers, or SETA contractors, or an established track record of capturing DARPA, or similar DoD lab, programs

The successful candidate must have experience with business capture and a track record of developing new ideas, identifying potential customers, creating win themes targeting those customers, pulling together capture plans and executing those plans – resulting in new business. The candidate must be able to work with program managers and technologists to come up with new and innovative ideas – then turn those ideas into new programs

Must have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Works well with a team, and results guide product development

Basic Qualifications
A strong technical understanding of missile systems, and a broad technical background in multiple, high-tech, defense-related fields, including but not limited to, RF and EO/IR sensors, materials, advanced energetics, Guidance and Control, Navigation, rapid prototyping, and missile component technologies in general. Experience identifying and incubating relevant, cutting-edge technology. A history of working with universities or small businesses or similar to mature new technologies and integrate them into marketable products

Candidate must be an “out of the box” thinker able to come up with new, unique and novel technology ideas/solutions/combinations that can be used to create new programs/markets

Candidate must have experience or familiarity with active DARPA technical thrusts.

The candidate must be able to work with program managers and technologists to come up with new and innovative ideas – then turn those ideas into new programs

Excellent interpersonal and briefing skills is required. Excellent communication skills at all levels of technical, management and customer chains of command is required. The successful candidate must be able to build relationships with multiple parties, at all levels while effectively influencing and demonstrating leadership skills

Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
12 - 14 years of systems engineering experience supporting technical programs
Ability to support occasional travel (~20%)

Desired skills
It is desired that the candidate have experience working with DARPA directors, program managers, or SETA contractors, or an established track record of capturing DARPA, or similar DoD lab, programs. A well established track record of capturing DoD lab, especially DARPA, programs is desired

Business capture experience especially with development of new, unique and novel ideas through final program execution is desired

Experience identifying potential customers, creating win themes targeting those customers, pulling together capture plans and executing those plans – resulting in new business is desired
