Come and join us. Intel is seeking highly qualified candidates to join our newly formed Network and Edge Group (NEX) for an exciting software engineering role. This role is part of NEX's Ethernet Product Group, where you will work on exciting new products fueling the data center growth. We are looking for a mid to Senior Engineer to define, design, and deliver code for the Data Center Switch Platforms. This position is addressed to someone who is passionate about computer networks and software development for next gen network solutions.

We are seeking someone who is creative, innovative and exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work across different teams and often play leading technical role.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on world leading technologies such as CPU microarchitecture, virtualization, Ethernet, FPGA, Security, Crypto Compression, network, and storage infrastructure offloads. Besides software design, development and upstream into opensource projects, and be responsible for research development of security modules like MACSEC and IPSEC.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of industry work experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years of industry work experience.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in C/C++/python development in a Linux environment
  • 5+ years of experience with embedded systems, practical knowledge of Internet protocols for example (TCP/IP operation), Ethernet networking
  • 4+ years of experience in ACL, QoS, L2/L3 Ethernet switching and routing protocols
  • 4+ years of experience in any of the following technologies - IPSec, MACSec, VPN, IKE, Deep Packet Inspection

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Switching Hardware, Data Center fabrics and corresponding technologies like VxLAN, EVPN
  • Strong understanding of network-security fundamentals (e.g., Authentication, Cryptography, PKI)
  • Knowledge of Linux Kernel programming is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Linux OS virtualization, network and storage virtualization and tunneling protocols
  • Experience developing APIs and software libraries for networking and storage data plane and control plane
  • Knowledge of data protection solutions for file systems, storage, and cloud technologies is an advantage
  • Experience in open-source implementations will be a plus
  • Experience in working with cross-geo communities and customers will be highly desirable
