Job Description

The Counterproliferation Technology Program Office (CPTPO) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) provides world-class, forward-looking thought leadership and turn-key, best-of-class technical solutions to the countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) and improvised threat enterprise for U.S. Government and other sponsors.

The role of this position is to lead a team that evaluates and integrates technologies to develop solutions to counter current and emerging nuclear and radiological threats and address the nexus of technology and asymmetric warfare. The position may involve use of or development of state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools to perform critical analysis of system performance.

The job duties for this position include research and evaluation of candidate solutions, development of concepts of operation, and systems integration. Additionally, the position may involve field-based experimental/testing activities.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering or Physics
  • Proficiency with MCNP, SCALE, or GADRAS
  • Knowledge of Python or C
  • Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting DoD or DOE/NNSA national security programs

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
