Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Systems Engineering team in McKinney, TX. The MFRFS program is primarily an Army funded program specializing in the creation of compact stationary and on-the-move ground-based radars, which search and track a variety of ground and airborne targets. These technologies are paramount for early-warning systems, missile defense, and offensive counter-measures that help keep the warfighter safe. In particular, this job assignment will be with the algorithms development / modes team on the MFRFS program.

Therein, the Senior Principal Systems Engineer will be a member of a highly-visible team of engineers supporting systems engineering, algorithms development, and test expertise to the radar systems program. The Senior Principal Systems Engineer will also regularly interface with customers, the Systems Integration and Testing (SI&T), Software, Firmware, Whole Life, and Built-In-Test teams to ensure that proper design algorithms will be implemented properly and can have interoperable use on the Ku-band Radio Frequency System (KuRFS) radar product suite.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Algorithm development as it relates to complex subject material such as On-the-move motion compensation, Tracking, Navigation, Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Attack (EA), Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR), Machine Learning, Automatic classification, or other heavy signal processing work
Expert in radar signal processing, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and complex mathematical modeling
Developing complex radar processing modes and making sure they are interoperable within the KuRFS radar system and with other already operating radar modes
Interfacing with the SI&T, Software, Firmware, Whole Life, and Built-In-Test teams to ensure algorithms developed are implemented properly
Ability to interface with customers / upper management and hold meetings and to be part of Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and present therein
Properly document progress made in terms of simulation enhancements
Ability to generate Intellectual Property with limited supervision, it is expected to be an out-of-the-box thinker who can tackle very difficult problems
Need to be able to come up to speed with program related duties very quickly and have independent positive contribution almost at program start
Developing Monte-Carlo based radar simulations and other analysis tools to augment the algorithms design and prove their viability
Ability to grasp and utilize inherent programs radar processing tools very quickly
Properly document progress made in terms of simulation enhancements

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • 10+ years of experience in the field of engineering or related technical discipline
  • Programming skills including MATLAB, C, C++
  • 5+ yrs experience in developing complex signal processing models
  • 8+ yrs experience with radar signal processing
  • Algorithms development
  • Existing IP / conference papers
  • Advanced radar topics such as Automatic Target Recognition, ISAR, EP, EA, Tracking, Navigation, DSP, Machine Learning, and/or On-the-move motion compensation
Required Education:
Masters Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Qualifications We Value:
Multiple MS degrees or a PhD in Engineering
Multiple IP disclosures and / or conference presentations
SME in the area of radar processing and its algorithms design
Experience with clutter and multipath mitigation
Experience with On-the-move motion compensation especially using non-collocated i.e. distributed array architectures
Radar signal processing and digital signal processing
Kalman Tracking, neural networks, radar performance tracking experience
ISAR, SAR, EP, EA, interference detection experience
Configuration control / management
Interacting with other groups on a large program and with customers
Creating automated regression and testing scripts
Simulation validation and verification
Working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Self-motivated, proactive problem-solver with good technical and written communication skills
