A.M. Fitzgerald & Associates, a successful and internationally-recognized MEMS product development firm, is seeking a versatile senior MEMS engineer to join our mission of helping emerging technologies become the products of tomorrow. We help our customers, who range from startups to companies in the Fortune 500, to develop high performance products, enabled by customized microtechnology, in order to save and improve lives, reduce waste and decrease energy consumption.

This job requires an experienced MEMS engineer who thrives on intellectual variety and who can manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously, with timelines varying from one month to several years. You will work as both a contributor and a project manager to develop and design prototypes of a wide variety of MEMS sensors and actuators for consumer, medical, and industrial end uses. Typical project work will consist of requirements specification, feasibility studies, MEMS design, process integration and foundry transfer, and could also include electronics and package design. You will also advise colleagues who are doing prototype fabrication and you will be a key technical contact to our customers.

This position will provide career growth opportunities not found in typical corporate engineering jobs: you will have regular interaction with C-level executives at companies and foundries in the global MEMS industry and with venture investors; opportunity for business travel to Europe and Asia; and public speaking, patenting and publication opportunities.

  • You must be able to work onsite at our Burlingame, CA office at least 3 days per week
  • You must already be authorized to work in the USA (US citizen, green card or valid visa) or be a Canadian citizen eligible for TN visa. Our company uses E-Verify to validate documents.
Additional desired skills (any of the following)
  • Optical MEMS design experience (mirrors, gratings, Fabry-Perot, etc.)
  • Sensor readout, control and/or wireless communications circuit design (board-level or ASIC)
  • MEMS package design and assembly
  • SolidWorks CAD skills
  • Matlab, C, or Python programming
  • Embedded system programming
  • Experience with foundry production environment
Compensation: commensurate with experience; base salary plus variable based on performance

Benefits: Option to work from home 1 or 2 days per week, PPO medical insurance, dental and vision plans, 401K, 4 weeks paid time off, profit-sharing bonuses
