The Mechanical Products Team (MPT) is responsible for mechanical design, analysis, and test of all sensor and effector products across the RMD portfolio. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.
The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in the Tactical Radars (TR) Department.
The Department supports Command and Control (C2), Battle Field Radar (BFR), and Naval Systems products within the RMD business both domestically and internationally. The TR Department provides mechanical and hardware systems engineering expertise and provides support across locations in CA, AZ, and MA.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Mechanical Design & Drafting section in the department providing technical lead as well as mechanical design. Position requires performing and collaboration within RMD on research, design, analysis, and development in such areas as mechanical systems, thermal systems, materials, test equipment, hardware processes, or manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities to anticipate:
Hardware Design Support Requirements based Drafting & Design using CAD tools, peer review engineering documentation, build/assembly support, and installation support
Perform research, design, analysis, and development in the areas of mechanical design and engineering
Perform technical drafting services in support of engineering drawing releases
Ensure tasks and assignments adhere to company internal processes and procedures.
Follow and ensure compliance with RMD and Mechanical Engineering process initiatives
Execute RMD Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and TR department strategies and goals
Qualifications You Must Have:
BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Applied Sciences field and 4 years of engineering experience (MS degree with 2 years professional experience or Ph.D. with academic experience)
6 years of systems, software, hardware; and/or mechanical engineering experience
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool CREO, SolidWorks, Pro-E, or related tools
Experience with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Hardware Design, Assembly, Installation, Integration, and/or Test
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Experience with Radar, Command and Control, or Naval Systems product areas
Experience in routing/switching/system and administration domain knowledge
Experience with hands-on work; i.e. electronics packaging, HW assembly and deployment, field installation.
Strong analytical skills & excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time in a fast paced environment
Ability to work well in a team environment & effective interpersonal communication skills
