Job Description

The Advanced Client Solutions Team, part of CCG-CPE, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the Mechanical Architecture/Design of projects in the team.

In this position, you will be part of the team that defines, designs, and builds functional - innovative future Personal Computing systems based on next-generation computing architecture, new system-level technologies, and new usage models. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for developing innovative Mechanical System architecture, new chassis design approaches, researching new materials and processes that advance industry best practices while influencing other engineers, management, and the industry.

You will be creatively applying your technical know-how (engineering fundamentals, scientific knowledge, systems thinking, analytical thinking, prototyping, and testing knowledge) against design constraints and boundary conditions (industrial design, cost, performance criteria, acoustics, and other design constraints) to research, develop and productize mass-producible solutions. You will also design and build proof-of-concept prototypes, perform Design-of-Experiments (DOE), mechanically instrument prototypes for thermal, stress, vibration, acoustic, etc, and help perform technical analysis and trade-off studies on design feature alternatives to optimize against design priorities.

To accomplish your deliverables, you will be using leading MCAD tools, analytical tools, and Office SW. You will be demonstrating proof-of-concept functionality and communicating your results through specifications, reports, and presentations with internal and external collaborative partners - helping to refine the solutions and paving the path to production.

The working environment reflects a fast-paced, start-up-like multi-disciplined team environment, where successful communication among team members and stakeholders is critical.

A successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in MCAD design tools (i.e., Creo) and testing tools

  • The ability to work with minimal direction and ambiguity to specifics

  • Creative approach to "real world" practical problem-solving in a team environment

  • The ability to manage and juggle multiple projects and meeting deliverables and timelines

  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
