Job Description

The Counterproliferation Technology Program Office (CPTPO) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) provides world-class, forward-looking thought leadership and turn-key, best-of-class technical solutions to the countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) and improvised threat enterprise for U.S. Government and other sponsors.

The role of this position is to lead a team that integrates multiple technologies to develop prototypes that deliver tailored solutions to project sponsors on compressed schedules. The position may involve use of or development of state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools to perform critical analysis of system performance.

The job duties for this position include prototype design, development and modification, hardware and software integration, modeling and simulation, research and evaluation of candidate solutions, and development of concepts of employment. Additionally, the position may involve field-based experimental/testing activities.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency with Matlab and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of Python, C
  • Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering license

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
