The Mechanical Products Team (MPT) provides engineering design, integration and production to a wide range of hardware in Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD). The Mechanical Products Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and RMD Six Sigma principles. MPTs capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment Department leads mechanical design, development and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, interconnects, as well as facility development and site integration. The department is seeking motivated and driven mechanical engineers with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration and production support. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, the individual will support multi-disciplined engineering teams and provide mechanical solutions and services across all program phases. Areas of focus can encompass development of next generation systems, design development for existing products, transition to production, product support, vendor oversight, and eld upgrades.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
  • Support the factory and suppliers with product integration domestically and internationally
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, nancial, and technical goals
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Qualications:
  • Four (4)+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role with minimum one (1) year designing and developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in Military environments Previous experience including concept denition through detailed design and transition to production and production support
  • Broad background in mechanical design, development, material selection, or manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD design tools or associated product data management tools
Desired Qualication:
  • Experience in design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, power distribution equipment packaging, and rack systems
  • Electronic packaging experience
  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements
  • Oversee small to mid-sized mechanical engineering teams as a technical execution lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed development, through production.
  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specications
  • Knowledge in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international)
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with current manufacturing systems and processes
  • Reliability or failure analysis experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Configuration Control board and Material Review Boards
  • Experience using CREO CAD design and documentation tools
  • Experience with Windchill PDM or similar product data management tool
  • Procient with Microsoft Oce Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Project)
  • Able to work well with people and achieve results with a minimum of conicts and within schedule Previous experience includes adaptability and willingness to work varying assignments
  • Demonstrated team player with excellent collaboration skills
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
  • Mentors other employees. Diverse and comprehensive academic knowledge and analytical skills capabilities. Able to solve difficult engineering / analytical issues.
  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, or hardware systems design
  • Desire to learn and grow skills.
  • Existing secret clearance
Required Education:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical eld
  • Advanced degree a plus
