Job Summary:

Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) provides The Raytheon Missile and Defenses (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and RMD's Six Sigma principles. MPTs capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment Department is seeking a professional candidate for a Technical Support Engineer to work within the Mechanical Computer Aided Design (MCAD) section. The MCAD section provides CAD support during preliminary design, detailed design, release to production, fabrication, and assembly & integration across multiple product lines.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Use preliminary sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate 3-D design models and/or conceptual layouts
  • Executing the detail design, working with design leads, or leading the completion of the Technical Data Packages (TDP) for mechanical subsystems.
  • Working within a team environment to develop innovative mechanical subsystems
  • Experienced with solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, Solidworks, or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of fabrication processes, capabilities, and limitations
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Associates degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or applicable years of experience in lieu of degree (2 years of Engineering or Technology experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college).
  • 4+ years of mechanical drafting & modeling/design experience. This may include areas such as electrical/mechanical packaging, harnessing, structures, cabling, surfacing and mechanisms
  • Prior work experience in developing mechanical documentation using CAD software
  • Experience with mechanical design applications and fabrication processes
  • Experience with applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M-1994
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Qualifications We Value:
  • BS degree in a STEM field preferred
  • Mechanical design experience in areas such as electrical/mechanical packaging, cabling
  • Experience with Creo Parametric solid modeling tool, drawing generation, and large assembly management
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Windchill 10.0 PDM link or an equivalent configuration management system
  • Experience managing large CAD model datasets
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.100
  • Collaborate in a team environment whether in office or working from home.
  • Self-motivated with strong organization skills

This position is located in Tewksbury, MA.
Position can be remote during the COVID pandemic, and will report onsite at a future, undetermined date.
