ICBM and Strategic Systems (I&SS) requires a materials and processes engineer to assure effective in-house designs, help manage materials and processes for subcontracts, support issues on the manufacturing floor and lead Failure Analysis investigations
1. Provide support through the product design lifecycle for materials and mechanical piece parts
o Requirement development and derivation: Implement Corporate and Line of Business Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) restrictions/prohibitions
o Program Planning documentation and standardization: PMP management plan, Metallic finishing specifications, Corrosion prevention and control plan and Material/Process design of experiments and Qualification
o Engineering Drawing reviews
o Process Material Usage Agreements and Non Standard Material Approval Requests
o Quality Assurance and Procurement support
o Vendor data package reviews
o Failure analysis and Material Review Board (MRB) support
2. Align Programs with common processes and standardized engineering material products including maintaining M&P data in the relevant databases.
3. Act as local representative for corporate and line of business standardization meetings and document reviews
4. Hands-on Laboratory testing and analysis support
o Provide assistance in performing mechanical testing (Instron), elemental analysis (XRF), and cross-sectioning (metallography using SEM/EDS) as part of acceptance testing or failure analysis efforts involving adhesives, electronic components, populated circuit boards, or electro-mechanical assemblies

Basic Qualifications
Familiar with Engineering design (drawing reviews, schematic reviews, etc.). Knowledge of Materials and Processes for development, design, application and production. Understanding of material properties definitions is required. Familiar with a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines including corrosion, welding, soldering and adhesives. Good written and verbal skills. Experience in Instron mechanical testing, elemental analysis (XRF), and cross-sectioning (metallography using SEM/EDS)

Desired skills
Desired skills include non-conformance submittals to the customer. Welding and soldering manufacturing and repair is highly desirable.

Working knowledge of MS Office suite, MAPTIS, IHS, NASA Stds, DoD procedures, DFAR, Mil Standards & SharePoint. Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines. Q-note disposition and SAP experience is highly desired.

Experience with shelf life extensions desirable
