We have an opening for a Senior Linux Administrator on the Argus Product Development team. You will utilize a wide range of technical and project leadership skills to design and integrate information technologies into the Argus computerized security system. This position is in the Computing Directorate in support of the Security and Protection (S&P) Program within the Security Organization (SO).

This position will be filled at either the 393.1 or 393.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Facilitate Argus development operations by maintaining, administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Linux servers and workstations on an isolated network on a day-to-day basis.
- Extend Argus system hardening through automated security scanning, patching, and reporting for Red Hat Linux servers and workstations.
- Support Argus development continuity by maintaining and extending disaster recovery solutions for Argus development, test, and production systems.
- Maintain and extend Argus RHEL/CentOS virtual machine infrastructure to support development and testing.
- Interact with vendors to research, recommend, and secure products and services.
- Create and maintain systems documentation and procedural checklists understandable by users with less experience.
- Identify solutions, develop project plans, and lead technical projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Troubleshoot complex problems with networking between Linux and non-Linux platforms (including Windows, Windows Server, embedded systems and possibly OpenVMS).
- Serve as technical project leader identifying solutions, developing project plans, and providing highly advanced technical assistance to the user community.

- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of technical training, related experience, or certifications (e.g., RHCSA/RHCE, CCNA).
- Advanced knowledge of shell scripting; ability to automate daily tasks when required; experience with bash or python.
- Extensive experience with patch management and automation; understand how to apply security updates to systems on an isolated network.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of system scanning tools such as Nessus and OpenSCAP. Ability to compile & report results and formulate remediation plans with system impact analysis.
- Exposure to or understanding of system hardening, remediation, and auditing.
- Ability to configure and optimize various Linux hardware configurations from bare metal.
- Working knowledge of authentication functions and protocols such as LDAP, Kerberos, and Active Directory.
- Proficient interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to interact with customers and team members.
In Addition at the 393.2 Level
- Substantial experience with virtualization technologies; ability to use VMWare or KVM to maintain and build systems from templates or scratch through automation.
- Highly advanced knowledge of networking topics (e.g., IP schemes, VLANS, routing, DNS, WINS, DHCP, or IPSEC) and experience using command line tools (e.g., firewalld, netstat, ss, or lsof).
- Highly advanced knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery; ability to configure and maintain disaster recovery solution for development, test systems and production systems.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing a Kickstart server and creating kickstart configurations.
- Experience creating and managing isolated Yum server.
- Experience with Ansible, OpenStack or Puppet.

Security Clearance: This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance or an active Secret or Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
