Job Description

Join the Extreme Computing Group and invent the next generation of High Performance Computing (HPC) systems. Our focus is on the development of the next generation supercomputing systems with an emphasis on short medium and long range research on improving or inventing processor architecture and or system solutions to accelerate High Performance Computing (HPC) applications. Be at the forefront of hardware computing innovation in which performance and energy are equal factors in our work. We are looking for candidates who are inquisitive and ready to invent and prototype new technologies. An HPC Architect:

  • Determines specifies and evaluates the viability of complex hardware features and structures and ensures that software and hardware designs interact correctly.
  • Influences the shaping of future Intel products by significantly contributing to the architecture used across design families
  • Provides multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives
  • Analyzes performance bottlenecks in high performance computing systems root causes architectural and microarchitectural factors in performance invent design and test solutions

  • Capable in preparing data for presentations or written reports and presenting the data to the group or to customers
  • Motivated, self-directed, and capable to work effectively both independently and in a team


Qualifications

Candidates must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of Industry job relevant experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 6+ years of industry work experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 4+ years of industry work experience, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 2+ years of industry work experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in microprocessor architecture including (processor architecture, cache architecture, system level coherency, shared virtual memory, network on chip, ondie, fabrics, and or related computer components)
  • 4+ years of experience in Modern architectural techniques regarding performance and power analysis and modeling of modern microprocessors and system
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware and software research and development projects
  • 4+ years of experience in high level language programming (i.e. C, C++, OpenCL, scripting, Python, Perl, and experience in Linux and Windows environments)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Research on advanced microarchitecture such as (pipelined out of order processors, dataflow architecture, cache, coherent on chip multiprocessors, GPU, ML, DL)
  • Experience with performance and energy modeling frameworks such as (M5, Sniper, or Pin is a big plus)
  • Working experience with software and hardware interactions and aspects of the codesign
  • Experience with parallel programming concepts
  • Experience with HPC software stacks including MPI and OpenMP
  • Experience with HPC applications and systems
  • Strong background on networking concepts Ethernet, InfiniBand, etc.
  • Experience with FPGA methodologies and design
  • Candidates with HPC experience would be preferred
