The candidate for this requisition will serve as the Hardware Lead Engineer (HLE) responsible for leading Fiber Optic Integration Lab (FOIL) efforts in the Labs and Technical Services (L&TS) organization. The candidate will lead the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and checkout of fiber optic related products and services required to support F35, IFG, ADP, and BD program milestones.

Ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Fiber Optic technologies and lead the design of fiber optic networks, process development for cleaning/repair/bonding/termination/application of fiber optic cabling and connectors, and research into emerging aircraft and laboratory applications for fiber optic signal transmission

Candidate will lead a small team of fiber optic engineers and technicians to meet program objectives and be responsible for overall Fiber Lab day to day operations.

Candidate will have a secondary responsibility to support the design and development of Man-in-the-Loop (MITL) simulation venues and technologies including simulated cockpits, image generators, I/O systems, audio/visual equipment, and computer networks.

Candidate will own the Hardware design lifecycle for FOIL products, estimates, processes, and provide support to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives. Candidate will provide Earned Value Management System (EVMS) inputs to the CAM/Project lead to achieve performance expectations and ensure collaborative support across business areas.

***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.***

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience with Fiber Optic systems design and troubleshooting/testing methodologies and equipment
- Experience with Fiber Optic cable fabrication/termination methodologies and equipment
- Experience in hardware and operations development and hardware design processes and tools

Desired skills
- Fiber Optic design and troubleshooting experience utilizing OTDR, cable testers, light budget calculations, etc.
- MS Project, MS Visio
- Experience in aircraft hardware, audio/visual interfaces and protocols, copper and fiber based computer network architecture, and multiple level security design concepts.
- Electrical and A/V design and troubleshooting skills utilizing multimeter, oscilloscope, TDR, signal analyzer, etc.
- Cisco and Extreme Networks hardware architecture and interfaces.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with Project Management processes and tooling (EVMS)
