We are seeking an experience Hardware Electrical/Electronics Engineer - Control Systems responsibilities will include analyzing requirements, developing design documents, supporting electrical schematics development and selection of electronic/electrical components to facilitate required functionality to satisfy requirements.  Additionally, you will spend your days actively engaging with product design team, software, hardware, and test evaluating control and monitoring systems based on off-the-shelf embedded control processor hardware and/or other hardware components.

 

As our Hardware Electrical/Electronics Engineer - Control Systems, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Support the development and implementation of hardware design strategy via schematic capture, possible PCB layout design, circuit design, and embedded design including sensors, logic processors and end-actuators.
  • Hands-on experience with creating prototypes, system development, and product integration
  • Support several projects concurrently; multitasking, team member, and prioritization.
  • Analyze hardware requirements to determine feasibility of the design and articulate findings to allow decisions in support of time and cost constraints
  • Provide time estimates for hardware design either detailed or first order estimate with ability to track through status updates.
  • Validation and testing of hardware designs by the use of written verification procedures, analyses executing test code, drivers and physical measurements.
  • Assists in the evaluation and resolution of manufacturing, design, and integration issues. 
  • Supports Configuration Management and Change Control programs for components, subsystems and systems, including design documentation and data deliverables. 
  • Supports product safety reviews.
  • Supports equipment installation, commissioning, system qualification and testing in the factory, at subcontractors, and shipboard. 
  • Supports the development, update and maintenance of installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Supports proposals for new contracts and engineering changes.
  • Up to 25% willingness to travel (domestically and internationally) on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.

Qualifications and experience:
 

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience, Or
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship

Preferred:

  • Experience with microprocessor based designs with ARM Cortex A9, Intel based or similar
  • Analog circuit design with SPICE simulation such as LTspice
  • Experience in the design, development, test, qualification and/or certification of large industrial or marine control and monitoring systems including software development for PLCs or HMI
  • Gas turbine engine controls experience or marine propulsion control system experience
  • Naval or commercial shipboard or shipyard experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and/or control system design and analysis tools
  • Comfortable working occasionally in a shipyard or shipboard environment
