Job Summary:


The Advanced Microelectronic Solutions (AMS) department develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, millimeter/microwave integrated circuits and modules for defense and commercial applications.

As a member of the Technical Staff of Raytheons AMS department, you will develop and manage next generation semiconductor processes by leveraging expertise in wet and dry etch technologies including inductively coupled plasma (ICP), reactive ion etching, wet benches and spray tools. You will define and execute technical projects to improve the capabilities of the etch work-center, identify and qualify new tools and process recipes, and provide support to manufacturing operations in the production wafer fab. An essential part of the job is working in small, cross-functional teams. You will be expected to interface with other process and device engineers to provide subject matter expertise to drive advancements for next generation technologies. The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep technical understanding of etch processes and their interactions with lithography and deposition. In addition, you must be aware of the added constraints of working in a production environment where cost, cycle time, and predictability are critical underlying metrics.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Work in cross-functional teams as a functional leader to resolve process issues
  • Lead process qualifications of new etch tools
  • Maintain processes and execute to foundry metrics such as cycle time, rework, scrap, throughput, etc.
  • Support process development needs in etch to enable the realization of technology roadmaps

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for an additional two years of experience. A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this position.


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors in Engineering, or related STEM curriculum
  • Minimum five years of related experience
  • Experience developing and/or sustaining semiconductor processes
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, or related curriculum
  • Knowledge of III-V compound semiconductor devices particularly Gallium Nitride and Gallium Arsenide
  • Expert understanding of etch processes and equipment
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System
  • Experience with transitioning semiconductor tools and processes to a production environment
  • Experience in design of experiments and use of statistical data analysis and SPC
  • Experience leading and coordinating project work in a team environment
  • Experience creating, documenting, maintaining and approving work instructions
