Job Description

The Command, Control, and Communication Program Office (C3PO), part of the Sensors and Electromagnetics Laboratory (SEAL) in Boston, MA is looking for research faculty to staff advanced research and development programs in Command and Control Concepts and Operations. The position is focused on managing technical research and innovation programs including direct customer interaction and business development for enabling Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2), building bridging strategies for current fielded Command and Control weapons systems to deliver advanced sensor and communication battle management systems for the United States Air Force, and other joint partners.

In addition to performing applied research, candidates are expected to manage research efforts and support business development activities. Business development includes the identification of research topics, conceptualization and formulation of research efforts, interaction with potential sponsors, and writing white papers and proposals. Candidates will be expected to direct research in a team setting and manage resources and budgets. Researchers are expected to be able to work independently as well as in teams. Applicants are required to possess both good written and oral skills in order to document and convey research to both internal personnel and external customers on a regular basis.

Job Duties

  • Manage research efforts in C3PO. This job includes but is not limited to managing budgets, schedules, research personnel supporting the program, and completing program deliverables
  • Support research in the analysis and technology assessment of C2 platforms and support teams designing, analyzing, and implementing alternative hardware and software technologies to update these platforms
  • Develop new business opportunities that align with C3PO and SEAL's strategic goals

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Applied Sciences, Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, etc.), Business Administration, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Applied Sciences, Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, etc.), Business Administration, or a related field of study and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Applied Sciences, Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, etc.), Business Administration, or a related field of study and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Applied Sciences, Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, etc.), Business Administration, or a related field of study and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Applied Sciences, Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, etc.), Business Administration, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience with a documented military leadership background in US military Command and Control systems and/or networks and data link systems
  • Demonstrated mastery of Command and Control Concepts and Operations, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Integration, Multi-Domain Operations, Sensor Integration, Threat Analysis, Data Links and Communication Protocols, Electronic Warfare Applications, Operational Scenario Development, Military Operations and Campaign Modeling and Simulation
  • The candidate must have demonstrated mastery of the projects and research thrusts central to this Program Office to include ISR research and all aspects of Command and Control systems and concepts development

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
