Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a senior engineer or scientist with detailed knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System's (BMDS) Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system and the BMDS Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) Architecture (BOA) and extensive experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) flight and ground tests. Candidates should have experience with all phases of flight tests to include: planning, monitoring, pre & post event analysis, and failure analysis. Candidates should have strong analysis skills as well as experience managing efforts and teams. The position will be located at the Colorado Springs, CO Field Office, and the individual would routinely support efforts on Shriver Air Force Base. It is anticipated that a candidate's time would be spent mostly at the Missile Defense Agencys Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC). Candidates would be expected to generate technical products and routinely brief MDA leadership.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and four (4) years of relevant full time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and eleven (11) years' relevant full-time experience; or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and seven (7) years' relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience with extensive experience in C2BMC and MDA flight tests, MDA Ground Tests and BOA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates should have knowledge of MDA models and simulation tools, particularly as related to C2BMC and BOA.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
