Job Description

The primary work assignment would be as a cyber-security policy and privacy architect and subject matter expert for Government projects and business development. Focus is currently on the development of a state level Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) transforming to the MITA framework. GTRI is serving as the system integrator for this effort and developing a core integration platform. We are looking for a cyber-security and privacy matter expert with 10+ years of experience in cyber and information security and privacy policies, standards, frameworks, government initiatives, best practices, assessments, architectures, and implementations.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or Computer Engineering and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or Computer Engineering and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or Computer Engineering and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • MITA,
  • MARS-E
  • security and privacy requirements and policies for storing and processing PII and PHI (e.g. Privacy Act, HIPAA)
  • NIST 800-53
  • ISO 27001/27002
  • Secure configuration and management of Linux
  • enterprise service bus products
  • web servers
  • web services
  • databases
  • network ports and protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA certifications are a plus.
  • Previous experience designing and guiding the secure development of complex multi-system projects deployed in virtual environments is highly desired.
  • Strong relationships to vendors, standards bodies, government agencies, and initiatives related to federal/state/local secure information sharing and processing in the public health sector a plus.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
