The Industrial Engineering Section Manager within Operations is responsible for leading a support team consisting of Section Leads and Industrial Engineers who are technically trained individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Engineering Department Manager and will be accountable for providing functional support and systemic expertise in all phases of the factory life cycle through the management of approximately 10-15 engineers. The Section Manager will be responsible for coaching and training Engineers in Operations Engineering (OE) skills and processes in addition to mentoring and providing career guidance. Responsibilities also include functional strategy development, providing technical guidance, coordinating resources, managing team staffing levels, conducting interviews, EAC forecasting, make center project ownership, cross functional collaboration, coordinating with other sections, safety and performance development. Additionally, the Section Manager will be a member of the factory leadership team, providing input for strategic issues and plans. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both technical and manufacturing leadership roles.

The Section Manager is the strategic make centers expert in advanced problem solving techniques and lean principles to develop and optimize the Manufacturing system in order to maximize throughput, increase efficiency and value. The Section Manager is responsible for the technical quality of Industrial Engineering tasks and must ensure the proper processes and oversight are completed. The Section Manager is also expected to support proposal activities and provide cost estimates for program bids and fiscal year planning.

The candidate must be capable of working beyond the typical 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week, including alternating weekend and holiday coverage throughout the year. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending nearly 100% of daily time in the factory areas.

This position can be Manager I or Manger II depending on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

U.S Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Employee coaching, mentoring, training

Provide technical guidance and problem solving to the strategic make center
Lead manufacturing objectives for cost, quality, on time delivery and safety
Support the 5-Year Strategic Roadmap development and maintenance
Employee hiring
Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Industrial Engineering processes and procedures
Develop strategic plan for the assigned Industrial Engineering section
Provide daily factory execution support to the make center leadership team
Mentor team members in the field of Industrial Engineering
Develop influential relationships with internal customers
Personnel Performance input for all related functions
Lead strategic improvement projects across all make centers

Position Requirements:
Manager I
Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field and a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience or Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field and four (4) years of relevant experience
Experience in a manufacturing and test environment
Experience in leading teams or projects
Experience applying Lean Manufacturing Principles (Process Improvement and methods optimization)
Experience with project management
U.S. Citizenship is required

Manager II
Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience or Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field and six (6) years of relevant experience
Experience in a manufacturing and test environment
Experience in leading teams or projects
Experience applying Lean Manufacturing Principles (Process Improvement and methods optimization)
Experience with project management
U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:
Experience with Simulation Modeling, Constraint Analysis
Experience with factory design and workcell optimization
Experience with discrete event simulation
Experience with CAD software
Six Sigma Certification
Network within Missile Systems
Experience with proposal development
Experience with Estimates at Complete (EAC) development and management
Skilled in risk identification and risk management
Current DOD Security Clearance

Working Environments:
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
