Job Summary:
The Electro-Optics (EO) Department, within Electronic Technology Products Center, is currently searching for an Engineering Section Leader (Section Head). Responsibilities will be split between supporting EO program(s) as an engineer (~90%) and providing functional support to the section Sensor/Seeker Subsystems (~10%). This position is located in Tucson, AZ.

Section Leader Responsibilities:
As a section leader, your responsibilities include working closely with the EO Department Manager and other Section Leaders to align department with company direction. Section Leaders are trustworthy and accountable, willing and able to coach and mentor section members and hold critical conversations.

Other responsibilities include the following;
  • Support hiring (resume reviews, interviews, etc.)
  • Support and/or drive department initiatives and goals
  • Promote collaboration across functional and program boundaries
  • Balancing staffing needs and align with section member growth
  • Modeling and Driving Raytheon Values and Behaviors
  • Support section member performance, career development, and growth throughout the year
  • Elicit and compile performance feedback to support Performance Development
  • Hold required formal Mid-Year and Year-End Performance Development (PD) discussion where complied feedback, key strengths and development needs, are conveyed.

Engineering Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include product development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, and support of transition to production efforts. Additional duties may include factory production line support in the areas of root cause and corrective action and problem resolution at various suppliers. Candidate will work in a self-directed manner, with only general guidance, while exercising responsibility in determining and meeting the technical, financial and schedule objectives of projects.



Qualification You Must Have:
  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years applicable engineering experience in progressing leadership
  • Current or previous professional experience in leading a team of similar discipline, including performance discussions and career development
  • Knowledge of any of the following: EO simulation, analysis or hardware laboratory testing.
  • Experience using Computer Analysis Tools (such as: MatLab, IDL, or MS Excel)
  • Familiar with EO hardware (such as detectors, optics, cryogenic systems, gimbal platforms, video electronics or lasers).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Masters or PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Experience with missile based EO products
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Industry related documentation experience
  • Business Acumen
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
  • Experience in systems engineering including requirements development, requirement validation, and subsystem trade studies.
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams to develop technical solutions for missile EO products in a leadership capacity.
  • Active DoD issued security clearance
