An exciting opportunity exists at Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) for an Engineering Manager to lead our Rapid Prototyping, Reliability and Failure Analysis section within the Advanced Microelectronics Solutions (AMS) Department.

The Engineering Section Manager in this role would be responsible for leading an interdisciplinary group of electrical, mechanical, and microelectronics assembly engineers responsible for failure analysis of GaAs- and GaN-based monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products and module products, as well as reliability assessment of said technologies. This would be in active support of existing technologies in production as well as next generation products in development. This team is also responsible for the design and simulation of packaging solutions for our custom designed microwave components. The Section Manager would also manage our rapid prototyping lab.

The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of transistor reliability including various measurements of such, and knowledge of MMIC and Module design and assembly techniques. Additionally, prior experience leading / managing a MMIC and Module product, experience with GaN-based MMIC products, Earned Value (EV) experience managing complex tasks, and strong presentation skills are highly desired.

The candidate would be expected to direct group members based on business prioritys, and would be the main interface to the various Engineering and Operations teams to maintain situational awareness of what those priorities are. The candidate would provide support on technical tasks and reallocate resources as needed. The candidate will be in charge of capital projects in support of maintaining and expanding the technical capabilities of the associated laboratories (Reliability Lab and Assembly Lab). AMS is looking for a dynamic individual with a solid track record of project leadership, technical acumen, and exhibited emotional intelligence to lead our highly capable team to meet the needs of a very innovative business.

Required Education, Skill, and Experience:
  • BS in Engineering and ten or more years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of microelectronics assembly, materials, and mechanical design
  • Academic or professional experience with MMIC reliability and associated industry standards
  • Experience leading teams and/or projects

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Engineering
  • Excellent communication ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Prior leadership of a team / project focused on Reliability
  • Experience with internal / external customers
  • Experience with GaAs and / or GaN MMIC devices
  • Experience with capital procurement
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) certified
  • Basis of Estimate (BOE) certified
  • Program Management Excellence (PMX) Level 5 certified
  • Current DoD Secret level security clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain and hold a DoD secret security clearance.

This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of any clearances and/or accesses necessary for the position. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
