The Mechanical Products Team (MPT) is responsible for mechanical design, analysis, and test of all sensor and effector products across the RMD portfolio. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.

The Configuration and Data Management (CDM) organization is responsible for ensuring our products are under configuration control and delivered on time. The CDM Organization consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Disciplines in the CDM organization participate in the life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. The CDM organization is comprised of Effector CM (ECM), Data Management (DM/DEX), Software Configuration Management (SWCM), and Sensor CM (SCM).


The Effectors Configuration Management department is looking for an individual to perform the role of a Section Leader.

This position is located in Tucson, Arizona.

The Section Leader has strong influential communication and leadership skills, with the ability to develop solutions to complex problems. The Section Leader engages with all Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads for assigned programs to ensure that Configuration Management is actively represented within the Product Lines.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Direct team members in industrial and process evaluation, improvement, and/or reengineering in support of Operations and Engineering activities
  • Assist in the development of action plans to address key engineering focus areas
  • Technically support program milestones and contribute to successful reviews and customer interchanges
  • Identify and elevate, when required, technical execution risks (includes technical discipline, technical performance, cost and schedule performance) to program and functional management
  • Meet the teams committed schedule, cost, and performance requirements
  • Use of common solutions, common hardware, modularity and smart buyer techniques in the design/development process
  • Provide program and functional management insight into the health of the teams technical execution
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Conduct performance/career development discussions, including plans for employee improvement
  • Coach and mentor, technically and personally, to ensure employee success
  • Create a diverse and inclusive team environment
  • Effective communication with the team and across the organization
  • Define team manpower needs to management
  • Ensures the team understands and follows proper company media
  • Collaborate with the CDM Leadership teams on goals and strategy
  • Create innovate solutions for customer and company initiatives
  • Recognize and provide appropriate team and individual rewards and recognition
This position can be a Section Leader I (5 years experience) or a Section Leader II (8 years experience), based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors degree OR in absence of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • 5 years of Configuration Management experience
  • Experience with PDM tools
  • Experience with leadership projects
  • Experience with government standards and processes, such as described in EIA-649, Configuration Management Standard
  • Experience with generating Configuration Management productivity metrics and reports
  • Experience with estimating, proposing, and managing configuration management cost and schedule on a program
  • An active and in-scope DoD US security clearance
