Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:

As a Section Lead, Ordnance Assessment, you will lead a team of multi-disciplined engineers who are responsible for executing surveillance and ordnance assessment engineering activities in support of missile programs. The Ordnance Assessment program is a combined surveillance and shelf life assessment program that assists our customers in inventory management decisions and provides a continuing assessment of the effects of operational environments on the products safety, quality, performance, reliability, and service life status.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
In this role, youll ensure that best practice engineering processes are followed, and youll provide robust oversight to ensure products are developed in accordance with program requirements while monitoring performance of team members responsible for solutions across systems and programs.

Additional responsibilities will include the following employee-focused areas:
  • Employee performance development and assessment
  • Employee growth, productivity improvement, and recognition
  • Budgeting and manpower planning
  • Personnel issue resolution
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies/procedures
  • Ensuring all personnel are properly prepared and trained for the scope of their tasks and leveraging best practices across all programs.
Approximately 5% travel is required.

This position will be based in Tucson, AZ

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience. OR An advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
  • Strong project management skills Ability to execute to project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and performance standards.
  • Understanding of environmental effects on hardware and application of technical theories and concepts in relation to the operation of aging components and materials.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical components, materials selection and characterization, testing and hardware integration.
  • Working knowledge of component failure modes, component reliability, MIL specifications and standards.
  • Capable of executing/applying root cause analysis at a system level.
  • Ability to develop briefings and present to large audiences on program plans, status, and/or results.
  • Proposal experience performed as technical lead for a contract capture using the IPDS process cumulating in a Gate 4 Proposal through WLE management, Business Area approval and customer negotiation.
  • Subcontractor management experience including knowledge of Statement of Work (SOW) development.
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects involving resources from multiple sources
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with section team, operations, design engineering IPTs, etc.
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
