Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:

As a Section Lead, RAM / FRACAS, you will lead a team responsible for the execution and deployment of the Reliability, Maintainability, And Availability (RAM) and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) disciplines within the Whole Life Availability Engineering (WLAE) Department within Whole Life Engineering.

The Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) & Failure Reporting, Analysis, Corrective Action System (FRACAS) Engineering section is responsible for all aspects of RAM & FRACAS activity within the Raytheon Missiles & Defense business unit.

The RAM/FRACAS Engineer ensures performance compliance of both customer and internal requirements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) Process
  • Working closely with team members on identifying root cause and corrective actions
  • Leading FRACAS Events Review Boards (FERBs) and Failure Investigations
  • Conducting data analysis and trending
  • Performing RAM trade-off analyses
  • Assessing RAM performance (MTBF, MTBCF, Ao)
  • Defining / allocating RAM requirements
  • Performing Reliability Predictions
  • Performing Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA
    Support Reliability Test Planning and Execution (Accelerated, Growth, Demonstration)
  • Providing proposal support

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
In this role, youll ensure that best practice RAM & FRACAS engineering processes are followed and youll provide robust oversight to ensure products are developed in accordance with program requirements while monitoring performance of team members responsible for solutions across systems and programs.

  • Budgeting and manpower planning
  • Personnel issue resolution
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies/procedures
  • Ensuring all personnel are properly prepared and trained for the scope of their tasks and leveraging best practices across all programs.

Approximately 5% travel is required.

This position will be based in Woburn, MA.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience. OR An advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Employment Experience:
  • Engineering experience
  • Experience with RAM Engineering and/or Failure Analysis / Quality Assurance
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Leadership experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Certification in the area of Reliability, Availability and Maintainability.
  • Master of Science in Engineering Degree
  • Strong communication skills; Ability to present to diverse audiences Ability & desire to lead large teams. Active
  • Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain Secret Clearance
