Job Description

GTRI’s Cooperative Education (“co-op”) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.

GTRI’s Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Lab seeks co-op students to start in spring 2020. You will be working with the Secure Information Systems Division on developing and maintaining secure hosting environments for a variety of applications. Projects will utilize Linux, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Amazon Web Services in addition to lower level storage and networking stack components to solve complex problems for highly scrutinized secure workloads. You will have the opportunity to interface with other co-ops, as well as professionals, while developing secure hosting environments for the division’s cutting edge research projects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
  • Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Linux, Computer Hardware, or Networking
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
