Research Field and Overview
The Research Instruments Group, consisting of four teams, is in charge of the operation, maintenance and upgrade of the core experimental equipment and system at RI Beam Factory (RIBF) including BigRIPS in-flight separator and Zero-degree and SAMURAI spectrometers. In addition, the Group conducts research on RI beam production using the core experimental equipment and technology development thereof. The Group is the driving force behind continuous and effective enhancement of research activities at and international competitiveness of RIBF.

Job description
The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Computing and Network Team and is expected to take a central role in upgrading, maintenance and operation of the information processing infrastructure at RIBF. He/She will upgrade data acquisition system and network/online data infrastructure to prepare for big data expected to be obtained by future RIBF experiments. He/She will also take lead in establishing a data-sharing infrastructure and initiate an effort to utilize RIBF experimental data. In addition, the candidate will operate common computers and network environment at the RIKEN Nishina Center.
Experiences in system development and data analysis in particle physics, nuclear physics or astrophysics are desired. We welcome those who are highly motivated to engage in research and development in close cooperation with collaborators both domestic and world-wide.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and development on topics specified above and to contribute to the management of the Team.

Requirements
Qualification
Doctoral degree (or equivalent research ability and background) in the relevant research field.
Start of employment
RIKEN expects that the successful applicant will be able to take up this position at the earliest opportunity after April 1, 2023
