Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is looking for research faculty in Hampton Roads, VA to staff advanced research and development programs in Command and Control Concepts and Operations.

The position is focused on managing technical research and innovation programs including direct customer interaction and business development for enabling Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2), building bridging strategies for current fielded Command and Control weapons systems to deliver an Advanced Battle Management System for the United States Air Force, and other joint partners.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, or related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, or related field and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 20+ years' experience directly related to the projects, customers, and personnel currently assigned to SEAL's Command Control Communications Program Office (C3PO) and will have strong problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical and managerial problems.
  • Documented military leadership background in US military Command and Control systems and an established track record in interfacing with current and/or potential customers in the conduct of funded research programs currently assigned to this program office.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated mastery of the projects and research thrusts central to this Program Office to include ISR research, and all aspects of Command and Control systems and concepts development. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A graduate of advanced military command and control (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun) and has deployed operational C2 experience.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
