Job Description

As the Supply Chain R&D Engineer in the Global Supply Chain Assembly Equipment organization, you will be responsible for developing first of its kind next-generation Material Handling Robotic capabilities, by using Advance Industrial Robotics, Autonomous Mobile Robots vehicles, and Flexible Automation solutions to support ATTD (Assembly Test Technology Development) capacity needs and Factory of the Future (Industry 4.0) initiatives. You will also support key development projects integrating material handling with advanced Machine Vision Metrology/Inspection, to help advance product road maps. You will work closely with ATTD module engineers and Suppliers to research, design, and develop solutions to meet manufacturing needs while enabling a flexible, robust, and cost affordable supply chain.

The Supply Chain R&D Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Work with suppliers to resolve equipment quality issues, monitor equipment metrics to ensure equipment fleet is meeting performance specifications, and drive enhancements through Continues Improvement Processes (CIP) and next-generation technology development life-cycle.
  • Partner with ATTD Module and Automation to enable Material Handling / Robotics strategies that will improve product yield/quality and factory capacity.
  • Lead supplier selection activities to meet ATTD road map goals.
  • Complete equipment source inspections to meet safety, quality, reliability, cost, yield, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Maintaining quality standards and systems, creating relevant technical specifications to minimize variability and subjectivity to align with operational and supplier capability requirements.
  • Define material inspection metrology and methodology.
  • Conducts DOE studies relative to cost control, process control, and production yield and implements plans and programs to optimize inspection solutions.
  • Work with suppliers to define requirements and holds suppliers accountable for their manufacturing process flow to meet quality, reliability, cost, yield, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Drive continuous process and quality improvements.
  • Specific responsibilities may vary depending upon the engineering role within the supply chain.
  • Works with customers to define requirements and analyze business processes.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Position not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least one of the following 2 degrees; plus, the years of experience required for each degree in the areas specified below:

1 - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferable in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Optics or related field of study with 5+ years of experience.

2 - Master's Degree in Engineering, preferable in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Optics or related field of study with 3+ years of experience.
 

Expertise Areas:

  • Machine Design.
  • System Integration.
  • Robotics and Automation applications.
  • Machine Vision, 3D Imagining, 2DID Matrix, and Vision integration systems.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methods.
  • HVM manufacturing environment in the aspects of semiconductor fabrication/Assembly test manufacturing/image analysis or optical science.
  • Troubleshooting fundamentals with any of the following: Electromechanical, Motors, Sensors, Pneumatic and Machine Vision components.
  • Formal project management training; PMP certificate.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Background and experience in the areas of machine vision, optical design, and defect inspection.
  • Experience with metrology accuracy statistics.
  • Experience with an automated optical inspection.
  • Equipment Development.
  • Machine Shop Tooling and Parts Manufacturing processes.
  • 3D CAD Modeling programs like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDT) principles.
  • Fundamental knowledge of AI Machine Learning, PLC Programming, and Motion Controls.
  • Basic Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Statistics, White Paper process, and Process Flow.
  • Familiar with Product Development and Supplier negotiations.
  • Experience working across geographies is a plus.
