Job Description

The role of this position is to conduct research in RF engineering and signal processing, as well as build and expand GTRI’s research portfolio in the areas of radar, electronic warfare, and similar electronic systems. The successful candidate will be able to abstract a first principles understanding of electromagnetic and signal processing effects to help understand system level performance during sponsored research in close collaboration with other scientists and engineers. This position will primarily support sponsors located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base including the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) and the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and is located at GTRI's growing Dayton, OH field office.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Algorithm development experience in MATLAB/Python or similar languages, knowledge of, or direct experience with embedded systems such as FPGA's or GPU's is also a plus.
  • Must currently possess a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Possess problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills; the ability to acquire new skills efficiently and independently; and strong performance in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of radar signal processing, intelligence analysis and/or electronic warfare is required.
  • Prior experience with effects based signals analysis, DSP algorithm development, and/or physics-based modeling and simulation is highly desired.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
