Job Summary:

The RF Products Department is seeking current college students for an RF Mechanical internship position. In this role, the candidate would support the development of RF products and technologies including antennas, RF electronics, and supporting test equipment as part of a multi-discipline team. A successful candidate is one with the skillset and passion required to solve complex engineering problems, properly apply engineering tools and processes, and leverage knowledge from previous coursework and projects.

Experience or studies in any of the following areas improve the fit of the candidate for the RF Mechanical internship position: 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawing creation, prototype fabrication, electronics packaging, test fixture design, circuit layout, hardware integration and testing, analysis (e.g. structural or thermal FEA, tolerance analysis, etc.).

All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon Missiles & Defense. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects, but will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to shadow experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.



Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Collaborating in a multi-discipline team setting to solve complex engineering problems
  • Creating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for RF products designs
  • Developing prototype hardware designs and coordinating fabrication
  • Performing hands on integration and test support for prototype hardware
  • Holding design and drawing reviews with peers and subject matter experts
This candidate must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
  • ST01 (Freshman Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program
  • ST02 (Sophomore Technical Intern)- must have completed 30 credit hours by start of internship
  • ST03 (Junior Technical Intern)- must have completed 60 credit hours of college by start of internship
  • ST04 (Senior Technical Intern)- must have completed 90 credit hours of college by start of internship
  • ST05 (Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2022 in Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree.
  • Coursework, project, or internship experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, vibrations, materials, mechatronics, and/or statics.

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Value:
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling CAD tools, preferably Creo Parametric.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings.
  • Experience fabricating prototype designs.
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a multi-discipline team.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
