A full-time, permanent position is available starting July 2020 for an RF Engineer in the Communications, Systems, and Spectrum Division (CSSD) of the Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). CSSDs main focus is in three research areas: communication systems, spectrum sensing, and communications electronic warfare (EW). CSSD performs a variety of advanced research and development, including wireless communications prototype development, network and wireless system design and many others. CSSD has many advanced communications and networking projects including 5G research, using AI to adapt to changing spectral conditions while controlling advanced SDR platforms with agile frequency adaptation. CSSD is also studying next generation wireless communications systems to help improve network adaptation to environment conditions and create self-sustaining networks. Radio Frequency (RF) development typically involves teams of 2-4 people producing RF platforms able to be interfaced with Software Defined Radios (SDR) or other Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) platforms for communications systems for testing and demonstration either in a testbed or for field testing.
Your primary tasks will include:
Designing RF systems from a board to system level
Developing, testing, and evaluating RF systems
Performing RF modeling and simulation Interfacing with software and hardware team to carry out product design
Conducting detailed design reviews with internal and/or external development teams Solving complex problems while utilizing troubleshooting and debug skills
Providing engineering support for prototype and production builds
Identifying and designing efficient test methods when required.
