Job Description

A keen understanding of issues related to radios such as timing and frequency recovery, Linux environments, etc. is preferred. Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting-edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to interact with other scientists and engineers as well as perform field experiments and demonstration flights.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must be a US Citizen who can possess (or currently possesses) at least a DOD SECRET security clearance.
• 3+ years of computer programming experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with C and Python
• Experience with RF lab equipment (e.g. Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Network Analyzer, etc.)
• Understanding of communications waveforms and standards
• The selection process will include passing a pre-employment background screening.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with network analysis tools (Wireshark).
• Experience with GnuRadio or RedHawk
• Experience with Linux development.
• An understanding of RF communications systems and design considerations (e.g. timing recovery)
• Experience with Altium or related programs
• Experience with MATLAB.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
