The Research Program Manager for Advanced Technology position within Qorvo's IDP Research group is mainly responsible for growing and capturing customer-funded Research and Development (R&D) programs that are sponsored by government agencies (i.e. DoD agencies such as DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL and DOE agencies such as ARPA-e) for long range technology development. This role is also responsible for execution of current actively funded R&D programs with the technical team to successfully communicate progress with external funding agency customers, meet technical program objectives within schedule, and spend plan. Other key responsibility also include working with defense prime contractors for R&D projects, defining and driving internal development projects as seedling to further funded research, and also executing internal technology development projects that are well aligned with BU roadmaps.

The key relevant experience include PI and/or PM role on funded R&D programs or program teams, building technical proposals with teams, generate cost proposal with functional support groups, and interact and build strong relationships with R&D customer base. The top desired skills include technical background in semiconductor/RF research and development, collaborative team work, excellent verbal presentation skills as well as written communication, and logical organization and planning.           


  • Develop technical and cost proposal submissions with research team and support functions for new funded R&D programs
  • Build and expand customer relationships for research collaborative opportunities by working closely with internal technical scientist and external agencies and technical experts
  • Execute programs successfully through closely working with lead technical engineering teams in respective function areas, organize and facilitate technical planning, and to set appropriate priorities within the program from scope and budget perspective
  • This role is expected to work effectively across multiple functional teams across organization from design to operations and research
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to funding customers and internal stake holders the program plan, status, and risks on a regular basis using strong presentation skills



  • BS in engineering is required; MS or PhD is strongly desired
  • 5 years of experience managing technology development programs
  • 5 years of semiconductor industry experience preferred
  • Must have excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Must have effective presentation skills
  • Must have demonstrated experience in leading/organizing/planning technical programs
  • Must work well across functional teams from design, research, operations, to finance and supply chain
  • Experience in engineering positions (design, applications, foundry, research, development, process development, etc.)
  • Competent with MS Powerpoint, Excel, Word, and MS Project
