Job Description

Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division (SPPD) is seeking a Research and Development (R and D) scientist to be part of a development team for our most advanced, future generation optoelectronic technologies based on Si-Photonics. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that owns the definition, demonstration, and productization of a highly integrated, low-cost subsystem that can unleash the potential of SiPh for data center connectivity and other high-volume manufacturing optoelectronic products.

The Data Platform Group (DPG) is at the heart of Intel's transformation from a PC company to a company that runs the cloud and billions of smart, connected computing devices. The data center is the underpinning for every data-driven service, from artificial intelligence to 5G to high-performance computing, and DPG delivers the products and technologies-spanning software, processors, storage, I/O, and networking solutions-that fuel cloud, communications, enterprise, and government data centers around the world.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

- Defining the methodologies and test plans for characterizing DC and high-speed performance of transceiver and/or Coherent Optical Subassembly (COSA) components and associated sub-systems
- Leading the design of test structures and test devices to segment performance attributes of complex systems
- Planning, building and qualifying testing infrastructure, developing equipment control software and enabling R and D test automation and executing experiments
- Analyzing data, conducting data reviews, and making design recommendations
- Debugging unexpected results and discrepancies

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education Requirement:
- Masters degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Science, or related disciplines and 6 plus years of related work experience
 

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 6 plus years of experience in photonics device physics, semiconductor lasers, optical amplifiers, fiber optics, and integrated optics
- 6 plus years of experience in transceivers, optical communications, coherent optical communications, fiber optics, related photonics devices and subsystems
- 6 plus years of experience with high speed testing involving VNAs, AWGs, coherent equipment
- 6 plus years of experience with different modulation formats (PAM4, NRZ) and knowledge of current generation and next-generation optical transceiver architectures


Preferred Qualification:

-  PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Science, or related disciplines 4 plus years of related work experience
