The AI Lab within Intel Labs is seeking a full-time research scientist in deep learning with a specific emphasis on methods for AI algorithm and hardware co-design.

In this position, you will be responsible for researching, prototyping and improving techniques used in NAS methods. You will leverage your background in mathematics, statistics, algorithmic complexity and distributed processing to extend and improve current NAS algorithms. In addition, a solid understanding of the state-of-the-art in both deep learning and distributed training will be required to be successful in this role.

You must also possess strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment. You will be expected to maintain knowledge of the field to improve the state-of-the-art. Your contributions to the research community in general will be made through publications to relevant conferences and journals and the development of intellectual property via patent submissions.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and internship experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or another related field

  • 3+ experience with understanding of computational / algorithmic complexity (e.g., Big O)

  • 5+ years experience in machine learning and training deep neural networks. Including a strong background in several applications of deep learning such as object recognition, object detection, semantic segmentation, natural language processing, etc

  • 5+ years experience in algorithmic implementation using a high-level, modern programming language such as C++ or Python. Including a strong background in software development with a demonstrated ability to write efficient, readable and well-commented code

  • 1+ years experience with hardware architectures (e.g. processor-to-memory communication, memory models, processing bottlenecks, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or another related field.

  • 1+ years experience training deep neural networks in cluster environments such as Kubernetes.

  • 1+ years experience working with numerical quantization such as fixed-point and reduced bit-width floating-point representation of numerical values.

  • 3+ accepted publications in relevant conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ICML, ICLR, etc.

  • 1+ granted patents in either US or international patent offices.
